Redbridge Lakes - a wildlife haven that is truly green
At Redbridge Lakes, throughout the construction of our new coarse fishing and match fishing venue, our key goal has been to ensure that whatever we do, we do with the preservation of the environment as our main concern.
We have a natural water filtration system that involves filtering the water through a silt pit containing Norfolk reed. The top lake ( lake Cuthbert) has another filter pond as well as a shallow wet area planted with reeds to encourage breeding birds. (see more on birds in our "Kingfisher pool story")
At the lower end of the site, we have left a large area mainly untouched, which is overgrown with blackthorne and also has some wet areas. A wealth of wildlife have been spotted here, including foxes, pheasants, kingfishers and another unusual bird that we understand is known as a white ibis.
In regards to the Redbridge Lakes Clubhouse, the heating is supplied by way of a ground source heat pump that exchanges heat from the ground. We have laid 700m of geo-thermal pipe that collects the heat. Subsequently the energy needed is reduced by 80% keeping our carbon footprint at well below the recommended level.
The hot water is supplied by a range of solar panels placed on the roof. We have also upgraded the insulation of the property to exceed the requirements of building regulations.
Everything is in place to ensure that we keep our green oasis truly green in every way possible. Read more about our environment plans and policies, plus our brand new Kingfisher pool.
